Hi, my name is Tryg. I live in Canberra and work in Defence. I have had this beauty since the demise of my Yamaha XJ900S Diversion which had a big lie down on a road in Toowoomba, QLD. I bought this one new, but old stock, for $18k on road, which was a bargain. Since running out of warranty, I have not been able to keep my hands to myself!
I love farkling this machine, moreso than my Divvy or the FJ11 and FJ12 beforehand. I think this bike lends itself to long days in the saddle and I think if I get another bike it will be an '08 model of this one. She has 85,000km on her and still going strong. Tried every tyre in the known universe, (I don't get staggering good clicks out of a set, averaging 4,500km on a rear...)
Since dyno tuning and bigger injectors+power commander, she runs rich, but rich in power too! The pipes are subtle but I like the sound. HID is a great great thing, makes the road come alive at night. LED lights all-round and the bike uses a lot less power, keeping down the taxable horsepower and the heat as a by-product. Wave rotors and stainless lines heave her to a stop better and all the other little things, luggage, radguard, custom screen, decals etc. have kept me amused for a while now.
I started this site mid-October, 2007, so that others in Australia did not have to intertwine with the thousands of users in the states, we can get right to the point as an Australian entitity. I am hoping to use our collective power to tell Yamaha of any faults (peculiar to Australian conditions), keep members informed through our unilaterally natured site and network, get FJR 1300 riders together, in cities, states and nationwide, but mostly for all of us, keen FJR 13 enthusiasts to spin a yarn about one of the leading sport touring motorcycles of our time.
